>What is FVRCP vaccine?

-It immunes your Kitten againt: Feline rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus, Feline Panleukopenia & Chlamydia. 

>How many needles is it and how frequent is this vaccine?

- It is just one needle & requires booster after 3-4 weeks. Later in life, it will be given once a year.

>What is a dewormer?

This is a product that protects and treats your kitten from Internal parasites (Worms) as well as External Parasites (Ticks, Fleas, Ear Mites). It also protects your household of humans and other pets. Some parasites are transmissible to humans and to other household pets.

Indoor cats can get exposed to eggs of parasites outdoors through our shoes. Some parasites are transmissible to humans.

>How often is a dewormer given?

It is a monthly spot on, applied to the back of their neck on monthly basis

>>My kitten received a vaccine with the breeder at age 7 weeks, does she still need the above?

-Yes, she does. Immunization before 8 weeks of age carries the chance of being neutralized by maternal immunity.

>>Can I just get my kitten vaccinated without having an Exam?

-Guidelines mandate a physical Exam before inoculating pets with immunizations.

-Physical Exams help identify congenital diseases.

-Insurance companies require physical exams for a policy to be in effect.

3. Booster dose for FVRCP: $25 + hst

4. Optional Dewormer: Varies according to kitten weight ($35-40 + hst)

5. Optional Microchip application & Registration: $80 + hst

**FAQ

>What is a Microchip?

It is a small rice sized chip implanted under the skin of your kitten. It carries unique 15 digits, that can be read using certain readers.

Application is through a needle.

It helps as an identification, if a pet goes missing and is found by someone. Once the chip is scanned, owners can be identified and contacted.

Many countries require pets to be Microchipped before crossing their borders.

>Why is Rabies Shot Mandatory?

Rabies disease is 100% lethal and 100% preventable. We have abundant wild life in Ontario. Raccoons and bats carry Rabies. It is a must that even indoor pets are vaccinated against Rabies in Ontario.

>>My Cat is completely indoor, does she still need to be vaccinated and dewormed?

-Rabies shot is mandatory in Ontario, even with indoor cats. Racoons and foxes can come into your backyard and interact with your cat. Your cat, if allowed to go outdoor can contract serious diseases from interaction with wild life.

As for parasites, indoor cats can get exposed to eggs of parasites outdoors through our shoes. Some parasites are transmissible to humans.

• Spaying a female cat is recommended before they get their first heat. It is recommended to be performed BEFORE 6 months of age. 

• Neutering your male cat is recommended AFTER 6 months of age
