>What is (DHPP+L4+CV) vaccine?

-It immunes your puppy againt: Distemper virus, Parvo Virus, Adenovirus, Para influenza, 4 Leptospira strains & Coronavirus.

>How many needles is it and how frequent is this vaccine?

- It is just one needle & requires booster after 3-4 weeks. Later in life, it will be given once a year.

>What is Kennel Cough Vaccine?

-It protects against Bordetella Bronchiseptica. It is required by daycares, puppy training centers as well as many groomers.

-It protects your dog in the dog park, when playing with other dogs who might be sick.

>How many needles is it and how frequent is this vaccine?

It is an oral vaccine, comes in few drops and is given by mouth. It does not require a booster and is given on yearly basis.

>What is a dewormer?

This is a product that protects and treats your puppy from Internal paasites (Worms) as well as External Parasites (Ticks, Fleas, Mange). It also protects your household of humans and other pets. Some parasites are transmissable to humans and to other household pets.

>How often is a dewormer given?

It is a monthly tablet, whenever temperature is above 0 degree.

>>My puppy received a vaccine with the breeder at age 7 weeks, does she still need the above?

-Yes, she does. Immunization before 8 weeks of age carries the chance of being neutralized by maternal immunity.

>>Can I just get my puppy vaccinated without having an Exam?

-Guidelines mandate a physical Exam before inoculating pets with immunizations.

-Physical Exams help identify congenital diseases.

-Insurance companies require physical exams for a policy to be in effect.

**FAQ

>What is a Microchip?

It is a small rice sized chip implanted under the skin of your puppy. It carries unique 15 digits, that can be read using certain readers.

Application is through a needle.

It helps as an identification, if a pet goes missing and is found by someone. Once the chip is scanned, owners can be identified and contacted.

Many countries (including USA) require pets to be Microchipped before crossing their borders.

>Why is Rabies Shot Mandatory?

Rabies disease is 100% lethal and 100% preventable. We have abundant wild life in Ontario. Raccoons and bats carry Rabies. It is a must that even indoor pets are vaccinated against Rabies in Ontario.

Spay/Neuter Visit

>When is the best time for Spay/Neuter?

• Spaying a female dog is recommended before they get their first heat. Because this varies from breed to another and is unpredicatbale, It is recommended to be performed BEFORE 6 months of age. 

• Neutering your male puppy is recommended AFTER 6 months of age

  Benefits of Spaying a female dog: ·  

  • Prevention of heat or estrus. When in heat, the female experiences an urge to escape in order to find a mate. This unwanted and dangerous behavior is eliminated.

  • Elimination of the hormone fluctuations that cause false pregnancy following the heat cycle.

  • Prevention of uterine infection known as pyometra.

  • Prevention of breast cancer. Dogs spayed before their first heat have less than 0.5% chance of developing breast cancer.

  • Elimination of the risk of uterine and ovarian cancer.

  • Spayed dogs generally live longer lives than those that are unspayed.

  • Reduces the likelihood of dogs having separation anxiety or fearful elimination.

  Benefits of Neutering your male dog include:

  • Reduces the risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate that comes with age) and prostatitis (prostate infection).

  • Reduces the risk of hormone-related diseases such as perianal adenoma (benign tumor around the anus)

  • Eliminates the risk of testicular cancer, the second most common cancer in intact (unneutered) dogs.
